Burgers with Fried Egg & Caramelised Onions
Juicy grass-fed angus burgers layered with caramelised onions, melted cheese, and fried eggs — all brought together with Sacred Staples Organic Ghee.
Ingredients
- 4 × grass-fed angus beef burger patties (20% fat)
- 4 brioche burger buns, sliced
- 4 slices cheese
- 4 large free-range eggs
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 7 tbsp Sacred Staples Organic Original Ghee
- Salt & freshly cracked black pepper
- Butter lettuce, to serve
- Sauce of choice (relish, aioli, tomato sauce)
Directions
In a frying pan, melt 2 tbsp Sacred Staples Organic Original Ghee over medium-low heat.
Add sliced onion and a pinch of salt. Cook gently, stirring, for 20–25 minutes until caramelised and golden. Keep warm.
Heat 2 tbsp Sacred Staples Organic Original Ghee in a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high. Cook patties 3–4 minutes each side.
Add cheese slices in the last minute, cover briefly so they melt. Rest patties on a plate.
In the same pan, melt 2 tbsp Sacred Staples Organic Original Ghee. Crack in the eggs, fry sunny-side up, and baste with the hot ghee for golden edges.
Brush cut sides of brioche buns with 1 tbsp Sacred Staples Organic Original Ghee. Toast in the pan until golden.
Spread sauce of choice generously over the base of the buns. Add caramelised onions, a cheesy patty, and top with a fried egg. Add greens and close with the top bun.
